Three members from Independence Firefighters, Local 2629 are in attendance of the IAFF 57th Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. We are one of the 30+ locals from Michigan in attendance.
A few of your Independence Firefighters attended the MDA Boot Camp this past Tuesday! It was great to learn about all of the new research and progress that the MDA is making for so many with Muscular Dystrophy, ALS, and various other neuromuscular diseases. Last year, we raised close to $8,000 for this cause, and this year our goal is to double that.
A few of your Independence Firefighters are in attendance at the biennial MPFFU Convention in Traverse City. They have heard various presentations, both from the MPFFU Executive Board, different committees within the union, as well as guest speakers and vendors. They are assisting in making important decisions for the future of the MPFFU.
Fine work from firefighters Brent Turner and Lee Green! How rewarding to have this email sent to Chief Piché giving such high praise:
“Hello,
I wanted to reach out to you to tell you how amazing a couple of your firemen are! We had a call at our house and these two responded, and made our three year old feel safe and comfortable.
"Today after nearly two years the Michigan legislature passed SB 249, the Michigan only paramedic license.
Thank you to Senator Hertel and all our friends who helped get this done.
Congratulations to our new Fire Inspector, Nick Wilson! Your hard work and dedication has paid off and we look forward to the positive changes you will bring forward in your new role!
On Monday, your Independence Firefighters were proud to be able to sponsor a hole at the Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial Golf Outing at Oakhurst Golf & Country Club!
