Congratulations on your retirement, Captain Tom McDonald!! Thank you for your dedication to the fire service and your service to Independence township. You have been a wealth of knowledge in the fire station and on the fire ground for so many firefighters throughout the years. Wishing you happiness beyond retirement.

McDonald started his career as an on-call Firefighter from November 1989 - September 1994. He started his Full Time Service in September 1994 and served until May 2023.

Tom was promoted to Shift Captain in March 2003. McDonald was trained in many specialties including the Tech Rescue Team.
