Meet Lieutenant/Paramedic Derek Moscovic! Derek has been serving at IFD for 17 years, and currently works on Shift 1. During his time at IFD, he has served on the Tech Rescue Team, as a Vice President of Local 2629, and in many different capacities in day-to-day operations.

Derek began his career at Indiana University, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He also has a Master of Science degree in Construction Management, obtained from Eastern Michigan University. He attended Oakland Community College’s Fire Academy to obtain his Firefighter I & II. He went on to obtain his EMT License, and then his Paramedic License. He worked as a Firefighter/Paramedic for Taylor Fire Department for 2 years prior to being hired at IFD Full-Time. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Officer I & II, Hazmat Awareness & Operations, Structural Collapse Awareness & Operations, Tech Rescue Emergency Medical Operations, Progressive Rescue Technician I & II, Terrorism Awareness, and Shallow Water SCUBA.

Derek was born & raised in Clarkston, and previously served as the Head Wrestling Coach at Clarkston High School for 14 years.
